CV Students and Grads Connect
The Buddy Program Focuses on Mentoring Relationships
The Eagle Foundation started the Buddy Program in 1997 as one of its founding programs. It continues today as one of the programs that best illustrates the Foundation's efforts to improve the lives of the students and families in our community, particularly middle and high school students who might benefit from a positive mentor relationship.
Students (grades 5-8) are selected to participate in the initial six-week Buddy Program each summer. Our students are selected through collaboration with the District’s school counselors, parents, and professionals. Each student is paired with a college-aged mentor for the 6-week program. They learn and grow together through an adventure-based program that focuses on building peer relationships, enhancing self-esteem, and learning problem-solving skills. Most daily schedules are built around outdoor and team-building activities.
